The latest series of ‘Take Me Out Mzanzi’ – aired on M-Net’s Mzanzi Magic network in South Africa market – was recorded over 6 weeks at Sasani Studios in Johannesburg, featuring a lighting scheme designed by Rob Grobler, with equipment supplied by rental specialist Gearhouse South Africa.
Panto is one of the most fun and also one of the most demanding genres of performance to light, requiring busy cueing, lots of bold and fast moving multiple scene and location changes and several touches of pure visual magic to help the action flow, all with simultaneous split-second timing … a challenge that Lighting Designer Andy Webb fully embraced for the Qdos production of “Dick Whittington” at the Swan Theatre in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, UK, where he chose Robe for all the moving and LED elements of his design.
The Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), featuring Phil Bates, brought four decades of their unique blend of orchestral rock to South Africa recently, playing concerts in Johannesburg and Cape Town – with Robe moving lights featuring on both shows.
Robe moving lights were at the heart of the action for the First Baptist Church At The Mall in Lakeland Florida’s 2013 Christmas Show ‘Celebrate Christmas’ staged for three performances at their 2400 seat Worship Centre.
